Easy Apple Crisp

This easy apple crisp recipe combines tart apples, a buttery crumble and warm spices for a satisfying yet simple dessert.

Ingredients

  1. 10 to 11 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  2. 1/2 cup sugar
  3. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  4. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  5. 1 cup packed brown sugar
  6. 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  7. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  8. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  9. 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  10. vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Place apples in a large bowl. Combine sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over apples and toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, nutmeg and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples. Bake until apples are tender, 50-60 minutes. Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.
