Turkey Tomato Pasta Sauce

Lean ground turkey simmered in a rich tomato sauce with garlic and herbs. A lighter alternative to beef sauce, perfect for spaghetti, zoodles, or lasagna.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound turkey italian sausage links, casings removed
  2. 1/2 cup chopped green onions 2 garlic cloves, minced
  3. 2 teaspoons olive or canola oil 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  4. 1/2 cup white wine or chicken broth
  5. 1 cup loosely packed fresh basil, minced
  6. 1 teaspoon dried oregano hot cooked spaghetti
  7. 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. In a large nonstick skillet, cook the sausage, onions and garlic in oil over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink; drain. Add the tomatoes, wine or broth, basil and oregano; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until heated through.
  2. Serve over spaghetti; sprinkle with Parmesan.
